My Family!
Family: I am married to a wonderful man, Jerry. I have 2 precious daughters, Davis and Claudia.. Davis married the love of her life, Tyler Till, and is a ICU nurse. She and Tyler blessed me with my first grandchild in January 2024. I am so very excited to become a Gigi! Claudia is my youngest daughter. She has 2 precious dogs, Sully and Shaw! I love my grandpups! Claudia teaches 3rd grade, and is an amazing teacher. I have 2 step children, Taylor, and Zack. They are both married and have children of their own., Miles, Caden and Chloe.
I live in Orangeburg now! After "Dottie" was born, we made a move to be closer to them, so I wouldn't miss any time with sweet Dottie, and to help out my daughter so she could continue working and building her career. I retired from teaching, as I had taught for 30 years, and decided it was time to start a new chapter.
Hobbies: I love to read and write. Making crafts is also a passion of mine.. In my younger years I was considered to be a pretty awesome slalom skier, as the years have passed, I find riding on a towable behind the boat is quite sufficient (much easier on the back). Writing children's books is a passion. I could sit and write for hours. I find my best ideas come from watching my pups play. I love my dogs.
Work: I retired last year, after 30 years of teaching. I was a media specialist at Gallman Elementary School, at retirement, in Newberry South Carolina.. Being an educator and working with my students inspired me to write also. I know what engages them in a book, and that inspires me to write my own books.
I began my career as an educator after graduating from the University of South Carolina, "Go Gamecocks!". I have taught many different grade levels over the past twenty-eight years. Twelve years ago I decided to go get my Masters degree in Library and information Science, as Reading was my passion. I have been working in the elementary school as a media specialist for 14 years. The past 10 years I have been working on creating my ideas for all the "Cricket and Izzy". books. The fourth book in the "Cricket and Izzy" Children's Book Series has just been published. It is a counting book, which also contains nonfiction information about different breeds of dogs.
